As the Bergen County Cooperative Library System (BCCLS) celebrates its 30th Anniversary, we’d like you to invite you to join in the celebration by becoming Library Champions.
Library Champions are patrons who love their libraries and want to be in the know about issues that may affect them. Library Champions’ email addresses will be entered into a distribution list. When important library issues arise BCCLS will email the Library Champions. The Champions can then take appropriate action such as phone calls, emails to legislators or simply talking up the library.
All you have to do is go to http://www.bccls.org/champions and enter your name and home town and either an email address, and then click on the "Join the Champions" button.
Libraries are facing a myriad of challenges and budgets are tenuous at best. We need people to act as our advocates and stand up for the libraries that have come under increased pressure because of the economic crisis, security concerns in the wake of 9/11, Internet access issues and more. Now more than ever, those who believe most strongly in the importance of our libraries are needed to be advocates for us.
Our goal for the 30th Anniversary is 30 Champions for each BCCLS library.

Friends of Wood-Ridge Memorial Library Selling Library Note Cards
Years ago as a fundraiser the Friends of Wood-Ridge Memorial Library had note cards designed that depicted the historic Library. They were very popular, and there has been a recent surge of interest in the history of the Library building.
The Friends now have for sale newly designed note cards with an updated picture of the Library. The Library is selling these cards on behalf of the Friends at the Front Desk of the Library. Each pack is only $5 with five cards and envelopes to a pack.
Please come and support the Friends in their work that benefits the programs and collections at the Library and impress your family and friends with your good taste in stationery.
The Wood-Ridge Memorial Library provides free wireless Internet access. Simply bring your laptop to connect to the Library's wireless network.
The SSID (Network Name) is: Lynsys All wireless access users should have up-to-date virus protection on their laptop computers or wireless devices.
The Availability of the Aladdin Personal Reader
Wood-Ridge Memorial Library has an Aladdin Personal Reader (magnifying machine) to serve our visually impaired patrons. The Wood-Ridge Lions Club made a donation to the Library of the Aladdin Personal Reader for those members of the public who might need such a device to help them read books, important personal documents, or anything else that they would have trouble reading.
The Lions also donated a wheeled table on which the Aladdin Personal Reader sits. The Reader is installed in the archway of the Old Building at the end of the Reference section for easy access.
New Word Processing Computers
The Library has three new word-processing computers, each fitted with a Wireless card allowing for Internet access. Each has its own printer. These replace the older ones that the Library made available to the public.
This will allow patrons to use the Internet and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel Spreadsheet) simultaneously, something the Library has not been able to offer before.
Wood-Ridge Memorial Library Offers a Laptop Computer for Use to the Public
Wood-Ridge Memorial Library is pleased to report that it is making available to Library patrons a laptop computer to use in the Library, which is a Wireless Hotspot. The Friends of the Library generously donated the money for the acquisition of the laptop computer, which comes fully equipped with a wireless card and word-processing software.
Patrons may request to use the laptop computer in-house (non-circulating only) by presenting valid ID at the front desk of the Library. Once again the Friends of the Library demonstrate their on-going commitment to and support of the Library and the public, which it serves.
